Fiberglass, composite and urethane bases are available in a number of alternative sizes. Bases fit around the column shaft and can be split to fit around existing posts or structures.
Our Tuscan Bases are made from a poly/marble composite which results in a base that feels like stone but weighs significantly less. We can make any of our bases from high density polyurethane or a lightweight fiberglass that is lb for lb stronger than steel. Our smaller bases have a slight curvature to the top of the plinth or the bottom-most part to allow for water runoff (as pictured).
Our bigger sized bases have no curvature or a subtle curvature to the top of the plinth. We have the capability to adjust any of the hole openings above to work with the opening that you need (we can widen or shorten the opening). Also, we can make the holes smaller so that your existing column
can sit on top of the base rather than slide inside of it. We can provide our bases without the plinth, we can extend the plinth, or we can make the plinth round rather than square. Basically, if you need a custom base, it is something we can do easily and with minimal up-charge more often than not. Please keep in mind that splitting a base will result in smaller dimensions due to the material removed due to saw kerf (up to a 1/4″). If you are looking to order these look no further and order from here. When these were delivered I was shocked. So much better than I expected and they are beautiful.
