Pilasters or Pilaster Strips are typically used in the finishing of entryways or door entrances to create a Romanesque appearance viewed more regal than a standard door casing. Pilasters may also be applied at the sides of a window area or interior opening. Placing a door header or window header across the top of the opening then completes the decorative appearance. There are also three different sizes that come with an adjustable plinth block at the bottom. To install this type of pilaster, simply make cuts from the bottom of the profile making sure that the top of the profile lands slightly above the door openings where you plan on installing the door header. Then attach the plinth block at the bottom. Any exposed openings around the plinth may be filled with a paintable, sandable silicone caulking.
